Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – I am aware that talk pages are rarely protected, but I think it is justified in this case. There has been a string of users coming along to propose the same change of pronouns on this page over and over, and occasionally sprinkling in transphobic rhetoric as well. GraziePrego (talk) 03:42, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Logged as enforcement for WP:CT/GG. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:41, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: GENSEX topic area. GnocchiFan (talk) 07:19, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:30, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent IP disruption. Loafiewa (talk) 10:47, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:49, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Entranced98 (talk) 10:57, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing – Fairly frequent unsourced additions and vandalism. Entranced98 (talk) 13:13, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected indefinitely. The combination of featured article and school curricula seems to indicate that this is called for. Favonian (talk) 19:00, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 13:45, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. qedk (t c) 20:13, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 13:46, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 13:49, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeatedly recreated by an IP and a user. Bored kittycat (talk) 14:05, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined I'll put it on my watch list. Blocking draft creation isn't as critical as article creation, and this acts as honeypot for the spammer, who otherwise may try an alternative spelling if blocked. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 17:57, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP vandalism. The same person appears to keep making disruptive edits under changing IP addresses, at a too broad a range that makes an IP block inadmissible. DracaenaGuianensis (talk) 14:39, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) partially blocked: 2600:1000::/21 (talk · contribs) (from Kerianne Flynn). One month. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 17:53, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP keeps on changing sourced content [1] [2] and makes up fake 2025 estimates suing 2011 census data [3]. The page was protected before for the same type of census related vandalism/disruptive edits, so likely the person. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:01, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) partially blocked: 2409:40f2::/34 (talk · contribs) (from Ballari). One month. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 17:48, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Edit warring - requesting page protection to try and get people to use the talk page instead, since reverting edits isn't working. Gommeh (talk/contribs) 16:05, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: Hellonerds12321 (talk · contribs) blocked by PhilKnight. 24 hours for edit warring. 205.155.62.160's leave of absence rather longer. Favonian (talk) 17:43, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: https://old.reddit.com/r/wikipedia/comments/1k5ysjv/former_ambassador_harald_malmgrens_wikipedia_page/

Canvassed, there seems to be some no-good stuff going on. JayCubby 16:11, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 17:39, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Following a brief respite, the vandals are at it once again, intensely too. A look at the history page should suffice. Can we have the page protected for a period of time, please? -The Gnome (talk) 19:01, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedWarn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:34, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Lots of IP vandalism recently, adding fake candidates and endorsements and removing sourced content. Day Creature (talk) 19:14, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:36, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. •Cyberwolf•. talk? 19:21, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:38, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Pending-changes protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:38, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Vandalism 191.112.8.180 (talk) 20:28, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recent spate of repeat vandalism. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 20:30, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Full protection: Edit-warring / content dispute. Left guide (talk) 20:40, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – This article has been edited by three users who say they are respectively the subject of the article and two of his colleagues. they have added unsourced information, and four times this month they have added copyrighted information which has been or is being revdelled. The article has been raised at CoIN and there is discussion on the article's Talk page and on the user pages of the three accounts. We don't seem to be getting anywhere, so I would be grateful if page protection could be considered. Thanks. Tacyarg (talk) 20:42, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

The page is not authentic and a subject of deletion: The protection is no longer necessary because the page should be deleted because of lack of sources and no citations in front of great false claims. Thereby, I request that the protection should be reduced and hence the page should be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaurya Singh Sikarwar (talkcontribs) 18:39, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. Talk:Raja Kam Dev Sikarwar is not protected. Favonian (talk) 18:44, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
